Is Poker a Game of Skill?
This is one of the most asked questions in the Poker sector and when that is not answered but rather ignored. People cannot really answer this question because there is real answer, it’s a bit like asking how was the universe created and what came first the chicken or the egg. But lets have a quick peak and try to see what the game is actually all about, is it mainly skill or luck?
Luck
Lets first have a look at why you have to be lucky to play poker, because you do not have judgement over how the cards are in fact dealt, you have to be lucky to be dealt the best possible hand, by getting a bad hand time after time you will never get any where in a game, unless of course you have the nerve and skill.
Skill
Skill is a very important and crucial factor in a game of poker, simply because you have to know when the time is right to pull out so that you do not end up loasing lots of money. You also have to know how and when to call a great bluff.
I genuinley believe that the game itself is about both of the elements. But over the space of a few months I believe that skill and technique creeps in a lot more. For example if a beginner poker player played ten games against some one that has that little bit more skill then them they would probably end up winning 1 or 2 but the advanced player would come out a lot more successful.
